Does the change in the political dispensation in Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya herald a change in the top echelons of their bureaucratic order involving Chief Secretaries and DGPs?
Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that in the case of Tripura, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan (IAS:1984:TR) and DGP A K Shukla (IPS:1986:TR) may be continued. At the same time, the possibility of both being brought back to the centre can't be ruled out. It is speculated that Shukla may be drafted into the IB.
In the context of BJP winning these NE states, it is worth recalling that when the BJP Govt was installed in Guwahati, the ruling party took a different approach by continuing the Chief Secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia (IAS:1980:AM) and DGP Mukesh Kumar Sahay (IPS:1983:AM).
If the Assam precedence is followed, Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya may see little changes in bureaucratic order. This may go a long in assuring officers that they should focus on their work even in poll-bound states and not be carried away by momentary things like elections.
