Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that a panel of candidates for the post of DG, CRPF has been sent to PMO. Reportedly, the name of Sudhir Pratap Singh (IPS:1983:RJ) and Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar (IPS:1983:UP) are there on the panel which may shortly be cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by PM Narendra Modi. Singh currently serves as DG, NSG whereas Bhatnagar heads Narcotics Control Bureau. If some insiders are to be believed, even though Singh's prospects are brighter, Bhatnagar may not be ruled out.
It is also learnt that NDRF DG Ranjit Kumar Pachnanda's (IPS:1983: WB) name also figured in the consideration but it was finally dropped.
In all probability, ACC may clear the appointment of CRPF DG in a day or two. The post has been lying vacant following the retirement of K Durga Prasad on February 28. Currently, Sudip Lakhtakia holds the additional charge of DG, CRPF.
