CJI T S Thakur appeal to the courts for continuing their functioning during vacations has not gone completely unheard. While several branches of the judiciary are yet to respond to Thakur, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission appears to be the first institution to have accepted the CJI's proposal. The commission is holding the sittings and deciding cases during the summer vacation. In the case of the higher judiciary, the response is lukewarm, though. One reason, as earlier, is the reluctance of senior advocates to forego their vacation plans in lieu of arguing cases in courts during the season of rising mercury.
