Arvind Kumar (IAS:1988:UP), Principal Secretary (Home), was on Wednesday issued a set of contempt notices by the Lucknow bench of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) for defying its order for disposing of the representations of Amitabh Thakur (IPS:1992:UP) who is facing departmental enquiries.
It may be mentioned that the CAT had given one month time to UP Govt to decide whether the four departmental enquiries pending against Amitabh Thakur needed to be quashed on the grounds of inordinate delay which it failed to comply with. Following the same CAT felt compelled to issue contempt notices to its Home Secretary.
The bench of Justice Devendra Chaudhary and Vishnu Chandra Gupta passed the order and fixed the next hearing for September 13.
