The SCOPE, in academic collaboration with Mindshare HR Consultancy, organized a two-day Workshop on "Leadership Development for Women Executives" for middle and senior middle-level management women executives in public sector on Thursday in New Delhi. Ms. Stuti Kacker, IAS, Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE, Ashok Bhat, Director, Mindshare HR Consultancy Pvt Ltd and Ms. Kirti Tiwari, President Apex, WIPS addressed the inaugural session.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Choubey emphasized that there was an immediate need for capacity building so that women executives were elevated to higher levels including Board level positions in public sector enterprises. He informed that the number of women executives at Board level positions in public sector was lower compared to foreign countries. The SCOPE has been working arduously towards empowering women in PSEs and will be conducting many more programs to give women a chance to upgrade their skills, he added.
Ms. Stuti Kacker, IAS, Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, in her address, said that besides wellness and health programs, Counseling Cells should also be created in organizations. She added that women faced a lot of stress and organizations must provide support and assistance to tackle it. Ms. Kacker advised women employees to equip themselves with skills for their self-empowerment. She also advised senior women employees to act as mentors and motivate their subordinates. Better networking, positive thinking, discipline and dedication to their work would boost the self confidence of women employees, she added.
Bhat, while sharing the program perspective, said that the focus of the program will be on the identity of women employees who need to focus on their individual identity. He further added that PSEs need to create talent pipeline and competency framework that could also keep in view the women employees.
This Workshop shall not only give insight into the succession planning for women executives but also motivate their taking over higher responsibilities. The Workshop has resourced very eminent faculty members drawn from different areas of specialization.
