Chandra Kant Das, former Adviser to Assam CM and Chairman, Assam State Electricity Board, has been appointed as Member, North Eastern Council (NEC); nodal agency for economic and social development of eight north eastern states. Prof. Gangmumei Kamei (Rtd Professor of History, Manipur University) has also been appointed as Member, NEC. Both will have a tenure as full time non-official Member, NEC (headquarters at Shillong) till June 30, 2018.
The Council acts as the nodal agency for the economic and social development of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
