Patna (07.01.2026): Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) Chairman Alok Raj (Retd IPS: 1989: BH) resigned on 06.01.2026 from the post days after assuming the permanent charge couple of days ago. Prior to this, he was in-charge of this post for the last one year. Raj said in his resignation that he was quitting the post due to personal reasons.
The general administration department (GAD) had on December 31, 2025 assigned him this post for five years or 65 years of age, with the tenure beginning on January 1, 2026. Alok Raj joined two days ago, but on Tuesday he suddenly resigned.
On August 30, 2024 Alok Raj was given the additional charge of Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar in addition to his present posting as DG (Vigilance). In December 2024, Vinay Kumar (IPS: 1991: BH) was appointed as DGP. Within a week, the government gave him additional charge of chairman of the BSSC. Since then, he has been holding the additional charge of BSSC Chairman till December 31, 2025.
