Guwahati (17.01.2024): In a major reshuffle, Dr Ravi Kota (IAS: 1993: AM) has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam superseding at least three IAS officers. Dr Kota's appointment comes in the wake of incumbent CS Paban Kumar Borthakur retiring on March 31, 2024.
Kota is currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Political Department, which encompasses Passport and Prisons, as well as the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department.
The Assam Govt further ordered transferring several other IAS officers. The following is the list of other officers.
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (IAS: 1990: AM) has been designated as Special CS, Environment & Forest, Soil Conservation Departments. He will continue to hold the charges of DG, Assam Administrative Staff College and Chairman, Assam Administrative Tribunal. Prasad is also posted as Principal Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, New Delhi as additional charge.
- Syedain Abbasi (IAS: 1990: AM) has been designated as Special CS, Public Health Engineering, Water Resources, Irrigation and Information Technology Departments and Resident Representative, Government of Assam, New Delhi. Abbasi is also posted as Chairman, APDCL as additional charge.
- Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani (IAS: 1992: RR) has been designated as Special CS, Agriculture, Transformation & Development Departments. He will continue to hold the charges of Agriculture Production Commissioner, Assam, Chairman, State Level Recruitment Commission for class-III & Chairman, ARIAS Society.
- Kailash Chand Samria (IAS: 1993: AM) has been posted as Additional CS, Fishery Department as additional charge.
- Avinash Purushottam Das Joshi (IAS: 1994: AM) has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Political Department. Joshi will continue to hold the post of Additional Principal Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, New Delhi as additional charge.
- Dr Krishna Kumar Dwivedi (IAS: 1996: AM) has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Assam and Principal Secretary, Power (E) Department as additional charge.
- Dr Patibandla Ashok Babu (IAS: 2003: AM) has been posted as Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department.
- M S Manivannan (IAS: 2005: AM), Commissioner & Secretary, General Administration, Irrigation Departments and CEO, SITA and Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, New Delhi, has also been posted as Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Personnel Department as additional charge.
- Akash Deep (IAS: 2005: AM), Principal Secretary cum Chief Executive Officer, Bodoland Territorial Region, Kokrajhar, Assam and PD, ARIAS, has been relieved from the additional charge of PD, ARIAS.
- Rakesh Kumar (IAS: 2005: AM), APDCL and Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Fishery and Excise Departments and Chairman, APGCL and Commissioner of Excise, Assam, has been relieved from the additional charge of Commissioner of Excise, Assam.
- Virendra Mittal (IAS: 2007: AM) has been posted as Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Social Justice & Empowerment, Irrigation Departments and PD, ARIAS as additional charge with effect from the date of taking over charge.
- Biswajit Pegu (IAS: 2009: AM) has been transferred and posted as Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home & Political Department.
- Jitu Doley, IRS, Secretary to the Government of Assam, Finance Department has also been posted as Commissioner of Excise as additional charge.
