Internal Security Secretary Ashok Prasad (AP:IPS:1979) is said to be the frontrunner for the post of CEO of National Intelligence Grid (Natgrid)). Prasad already holds the additional charge of this agency.
Indianmandarins has learnt that the government plans to revive and operationalise the dormant Natgrid as a federal counter-terrorism centre. And for this purpose it requires the services of a senior government official, preferably from intelligence services.
Prasad was also in the race for the post of IB chief last year. However, the post was given to his junior Dineshwar Sharma with the understanding that Prasad would be 'adequately' compensated for the loss.
On December 16, the MHA issued a circular calling for applicants for the post of Natgrid CEO. Both serving as well as retired government officials are eligible to apply, besides candidates from outside the government with a masters degree in IT, electronics or equivalent faculties plus a 25 year work experience in IT and IT-related field.
