There is speculation in power corridors whether the post of Member (Finance), NHAI would see a tenure extension of the incumbent or drafting of a new person.  The incumbent Member (Finance) Satish Chandra (IAS:1985:PB) has proceeded on leave following the completion of a three-year tenure on April 02. The ministry has moved the file of Chandra's extension to PMO but it is yet to be approved. Indianmandarins has reliably learned that NHAI has recommended to the ministry to advertise the vacancy. Even if the post is advertised it will take another six months to complete the procedure of fresh appointment. For the capital-intensive sector of highways & infrastructure, the Member (Finance) has critical importance, but ironically it seems the filling of the post has suffered from a lack of advance planning. ,
