New Delhi (17.03.2025): The Supreme Court of India on Monday issued a notice to the Centre seeking its response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) challenging the appointment of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). The PIL has brought the selection process of CAG under judicial scrutiny.
The PIL demands the President of India in consultation with an independent and neutral selection committee including the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Chief Justice of India to decide the name of the CAG.
