It is done after thorough due diligence, nominations from citizens and interviews of nominees with experts. When a woman IPS officer realized a few days ago that she was not getting sufficient nominations she did two unthinkable acts for a civil servant. She first sent a whatsapp message to a BJP MP and Patron of NBF virtually begging him to intervene in the awards process and give it to her. When he refused and she realized she was not getting the award, she went and complained to Chief Secretary of the state saying civil servants should not be allowed to accept such awards. The Chief Secretary asked ACS Forests to counsel an outstanding woman IFoS officer who was likely to get the award not to be allowed to go for the function. The IFoS officer had played a key role in protecting the ecology and green cover of the state under grave threats to herself. This was strange for the IPS officer herself accepted awards recently from media houses and was now going to town saying officers should not accept awards!! The managing body of the foundation has duly released a press note  as well underlining the unfortunate incident. After that the woman IPS officer sent messages to various media houses and even to the Indian National Congress (INC) media cell instigating them to take on the BJP MP publically for giving such an award to public servants, giving it a political colour saying he was doing it to further his own political agenda, since she at any cost did not want the IFoS to get it. It was shocking to everyone that a serving IPS officer, can communicate with the media cell of a political party instigating them to take on another party's MP!! This apart the IPS officer it appears is posting unsavoury messages on several group sites about the IFoS officer and Government is contemplating a show cause notice and stripping her of her police medals. Finally, the woman IFoS officer got the prestigious award despite the best efforts of the woman IPS officer to make everyone believe that she got it because she herself declined it. A 1983 batch IAS officer and member of the jury confirmed that the Indian Forest Service officer got it entirely on merit after detailed scrutiny and NBF has issued a press release clarifying that it is sad and shocking to see a nominee who was not getting the award go to such extent to damage others' reputation. Reportedly, Ministry of Home Affairs and Government of India are contemplating exemplary action against the woman IPS officer now.
