If some top sources are to be believed the Appointment Committee of Cabinet is all set to approve the appointment of P K Singh (CEO, SAIL) as CMD, SAIL next week. P K Singh's selection (on August 31, 2015) was among few first decisions of PESB under the chairmanship of Ajit Seth.
The top post of country's steel giant fell vacant on June 10 as C S Verma was denied extension despite he was eligible for an extension till September 2019.
SAIL is being run under provisional arrangements after Rakesh Singh, the then Steel Secretary, was given the additional charge as CMD. Consequent upon his superannuation on Sept 30 MSME Secretary A K Pujari (Secretary, MSME) took over the additional charge of SAIL CMD on October 01.
Insiders say that the provisional arrangement is all set to come to an end and P K Singh's appointment will be cleared next week.
