The case of filling as IG rank post is getting more curious by day. Recently, a panel of three IPS officers was drafted for the post. Even as this process has to move forward, the piloting ministry not only recommended the name of an officer but also issued an order for his appointment. But the Union Home Ministry which had to vet the order shot it down on the ground that a lateral shift could not be allowed before the completion of a minimum three years time-frame on a post under deputation. Since then, nothing is heard about the issue.
