Minister of State for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey informed Rajya Sabha on Thursday that as many as 924 teaching posts have been lying vacant in 40 central universities, of which 453 seats are reserved for SCs, 261 for STs and 210 for OBCs. In a written reply, he added that there are 1,464 vacancies for SCs, STs and OBCs in these universities as on March 31.
Pandey said there has been no change in the reservation policy for SCs, STs and OBCs for appointment in central universities and the UGC has clarified this in a letter dated June 7, 2016.
