Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that five former IAS officers of the 360 review committee have submitted their report last week to the Cabinet Secretariat. The committee was mandated to get 360 feedback about as many 60 senior IAS officers waiting for their turn for empanelment for posting as Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Govt of India.  The five former IAS officers were mandated to get 360 reports about the competence, credibility, and capability of the officers.

Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the NaMo Administration may clear the review-empanelment by the third week of October. It may be recalled that immediately after the empanelment of 1983 batch IAS took place on July 18, 2016, the PMO approved the review of procedure for the 360-degree method of selecting candidates for the posts of secretaries and additional secretaries.

Reportedly, the Cabinet secretariat figured out quite early that the method had resulted in the exclusion of a number of deserving candidates. Now, under the reviewed procedure, more questions have been added and the sample size of respondents increased to 10 to get a better average picture.

It is believed that seven IAS officers from 1983 batch and three from 1982 are in the consideration zone and the reviewed 360-degree method would be applied to examine their empanelment prospects. Reportedly, the same may also be applied to the review of 1985 and 1986 batch empanelment of Additional Secretaries.
