If some well-placed sources are to be believed constitution of 22nd Law Commission of India expected shortly. Reportedly, proposal for appointment of Chairman and Members of 22nd Law Commission of India has been moved. The 21st Law Commission completed its term on August 30, 2018. Justice Balbir Singh Chauhan, a former SC Judge, was the Chairman of the 21st Law Commission.

Law Commission of India is neither a constitutional body nor a statutory body. It is an executive body established by an order of the Government of India. Its major function is to work for legal reforms. The Commission is established for a fixed tenure and works as an advisory body to the Ministry of Law and Justice.
