Speculations have set Capital’s power corridors abuzz
regarding the possible shifting Department of Economic Affairs, Secretary
Subhash Chandra Garg (IAS:1983:RJ). The move may end up in what is called as
his likely ‘lateral’ posting soon to other equally important Ministry after full-year Budget for financial year 2019-20 next month. What is giving credence to the buzz is the fact that during
his tenure several Joint Secretary rank officers opted to move out of the DEA.
This is reported to have affected continuity and consistency in the functioning
of the department. In addition, a few more secretaries may be reshuffled in the
next round of revamp, or recast, that higher bureaucracy is said to be in for
as the NaMo administration enters the third week of its second term in office.
