Even though Congress regime rarely supported whistleblower officers Congress president Rahul Gandhi has come out in support of J&K cadre bureaucrat Shah Faesal (IAS:2010:J&K). He was topper of UPSC examinations in 2010. The state government has initiated a disciplinary proceeding against him over his tweet. "I write to you in solidarity against the J&K government's decision to initiate an inquiry for expressing your opinion on the rising incidents of rapes in India," Rahul Gandhi said in a letter to Faesal. Faesal had posted on Twitter, "population + patriarchy + illiteracy + alcohol + porn + technology + anarchy = rapistan". This kind of tweet raised eyebrows in government parlance. Acting on the instructions of the Centre's DOPT, the J&K Govt had initiated disciplinary proceedings against Faesal. Congress president said: "You deserve to be appreciated for identifying and courageously highlighting the issues that plague India. We stand by you in letter and spirit." Contrary to Rahul Gandhi's claim to support Faesal for just Congress-led UPA Govt had itself never supported the whistle-blower officers. It may be noted that Hooda Government in Haryana had left no stone unturned to implicate whistle-blower officers Sanjiv Chaturvedi and Ashok Khemka. During entire tenure of Hooda, Khemka was frequently transferred. They faced trouble during entire period of Congress led government. Even though RG's objectives, in support of Faesal, may be true but the intent appears politically motivated.
