New Delhi (25.07.2024): Is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on his way out? Post 2024 Lok Sabha polls, political obituary of Yogi Adityanath is being written by different pressure groups every day. Some wild guesses are also made by wasted interest people; some others are basking with their wishful thinking while there are some credible sources too informing about his possible exit from the top job of the state.
It is easier said than done for the BJP, RSS and even the top leadership at the Centre to get rid of Yogi knowing very well its repercussions. But if at all there is an iota of truth in it, who can actually do this? Not many! Actually the issue has stretched quite a long and has become fodder for the Opposition political parties that must be haunting the saffron brigade.
The overconfidence of the BJP too harmed it as even ACC was working in full swing during elections knowing it well that they are here to stay. The BJP reportedly ignored many suggestions of the UP CM especially in ticket distribution. Here are some more reasons that go in favour of Yogi and some other factors going against him.
Reasons for Yogi being removed
  1. The Lok Sabha debacle where BJP managed to win just 33 seats
  2. Yogi Aadityanath failed to contain anger of Rajput community in the state
  3. Both his deputies -- Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak -- are against him continuing with their campaign for his exit
  4. His differences with Union Home minister Amit Shah is another factor
  5. Yogi is now perceived as threat to the central leadership
  6. The BJP wants to bring an OBC in the state as CM but certainly not Maurya.
  7. Like most of the BJP CMs, Yogi is not a Yes Man kind of person
Why won’t he be removed?
  1. His popularity transcendent UP border, removing him may damage the party all across
  2. RSS is openly with him and Central leadership is trying to salvage the situation with it
  3. The BJP might lose the entire Rajput vote in many states even to an extent of upper caste votes
  4. PM Narendra Modi too seems to be not in favour of removing Yogi in view of various state elections
  5. Removing him may impact even the Central government which is not an absolute majority government
  6. Yogi cannot be held responsible for mistake of others which he made clear in as many words
  7. Targeting Yogi will be akin to targeting Hindutva icon by the central leadership which is already facing backlash from its core voters.
