New Delhi (30.06.2021): Mukul Goel (IPS:1987:UP) was on Wednesday appointed as Director General of Police (DGP), Uttar Pradesh. He is serving at Centre as ADG, Border Security Force. He succeeds Hitesh Chandra Awasthi (IPS:1985:UP) who retired today after a brief stint that began in March 2020. Goel, the new head of the police force, holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Delhi IIT. Born in Muzaffarnagar Goel has served in the UP Police in various capacities and in due course became the recipient of the Police Medal for Gallantry (2003), Police Medal for Meritorious Services (2003), and the President Police Medal for distinguished services (2012).
