GUWAHATI (21.05.2026): Just after taking over for the second consecutive terms, the Himanta Biswa Sarma government re-engaged two retired AIS officers in senior administrative positions following Cabinet approval from the day of the formation of the government i.e. 12.05.2026. Retired IAS officer Raj Chakrabarty has been re-engaged as Special Commissioner and Special Secretary in the Public Works (Building & NH) Department for a period of three months with full financial and administrative powers. In a separate order, retired IFS officer M K Yadava has been re-engaged as Special Chief Secretary (Forest) for a period of six months.
