Mumbai Police claims to have uncovered a TRP scam. Republic TV owner Arnab Goswami is under the scanner. Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh claims that it may question Arnab Goswami over the alleged TRP scam.

Reportedly, Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Thursday claimed that it has busted a Television Rating Points (TRP) manipulation racket. Proprietors of TV channels named Box Cinema and Fast Marathi were arrested for TRP fraud and the owner of the third channel i.e. Republic TV was yet to be summoned. The ratings of Republic Media's Republic Bharat had shot up exponentially raising suspicions of a foul play.

Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which provides rating points to TV channels,  had earlier suspected Republic TV of manipulating the system. An agency called Hansa Research that installed barometers (rating boxes) on behalf of BARC, had earlier filed a case with the Mumbai Police claiming some of Hansa Research's ex-employees had leaked/sold the secret data of the sample households installed with barometers.

Further, in a major revelation, Arnab Goswami has countered Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh's allegations.
