Three officers get additional charge after 3 Secretary-level posts fall vacant

NEW DELHI (30.05.2026): Three posts of secretary and equivalent in the Government of India fell vacant in different ministries and departments – Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, Chairman, Defence Research Development; Secretary, National Commission for Minorities Organisation; and Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences. Three officers have been entrusted with additional charges in these departments and ministries till the appointment of regular incumbents. The names and departments/ministries of the officers are as follows:

Rajesh Kumar Singh (IAS: 1989: KL), Secretary, Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, has been entrusted with additional charge of Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman, Defence Research Development Organisation upon completion of tenure of Dr Samir V Kamat on 31.05.2025.
Srivatsa Krishna (IAS: 1994: KN), Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, has been entrusted with additional charge Secretary, National Commission for Minorities, upon the superannuation of Alka Upadhyaya on 31.05.2026.
Dr N Kalaiselvi, DG, CSIR-cum-Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, has been entrusted with additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences upon superannuation of Dr M Ravichandran on 31.05.2025.
