'Indianmandarins' has learnt that Tapan Ray (IAS:1982:GJ) is under consideration zone for Secretary, Department of Electronics & IT in the month of September or any time in August. Ray was appointed as Additional Secretary DEIT on Sept 15, 2014 and has recently been empanelled to be posted as Secretary (GoI). When the appointment of TRAI Chairman is in last legs the post of Secretary, DEIT is expected to fall vacant anytime before September 30, 2015; the scheduled superannuation of the incumbent Secretary DEIT when R S Sharma (IAS:1978:JH). Power corridors are also abuzz that one can not deny if Ray might be given to head a department under the Ministry of Finance in August this year.
