NEW DELHI (29.05.2026):Tamil Nadu under the new TVK government is set to get a full-time Director General of Police (DGP)/Head of Police Force (HoPF), as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has cleared a panel of three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for appointing one of them to the post.
The Commission has cleared the names of three senior IPS officers -- Rajiv Kumar (IPS: 1992: TN), Sandeep Rai Rathore (IPS: 1992: TN) and Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal (IPS: 1994: TN) -- for the post and one among them would be appointed as the next DGP of the state by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.
The revised list of IPS officers sent to the UPSC by the state government included Seema Agarwal (IPS: 1990: TN) and was the senior most, but she failed to get the nomination in the panel, as she is scheduled to retire in June.
