A Surya Prakash may be reappointed as the chairman of Prasar Bharati for the second term for another three years.
A statutory three-member body headed by vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu is said to have cleared his reappointment at a meeting recently. Press Council of India chairman and information and broadcasting secretary are also members of the panel. And the I&B secretary functions as the nominee of the President on the panel.
Surya was appointed as the chief of Prasar Bharati in October 2014, a few months after the NDA government returned to power. His tenure was for three years.
During his previous stint, Surya had pushed for a technological shift from analog to digital platforms. He may now implement this shift during his second stint.
