Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that SIT chief, re-investigating 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Pramod Kumar Asthana (IPS:1986:MT) has been repatriated. The MHA has reportedly, issued the order on July 11 late evening. Asthana was posted as Inspector General, Bureau of Police Research & Development but further he was made the chief of SIT in February last year. The sudden development came as a surprise to many as the specific reason of his repatriation is not clear as yet. If some reliable sources are to be believed his repatriation has nothing to do with his SIT related assignment so far.
