Prior to the appointment of Mahajan and Singh the board had only two members- Ananya Rayand S Ramesh- against the sanctioned strength of six. Ms Vanaja N Sarna is CBEC's Chairman.
CBEC, the apex policy-making body for indirect taxes, and its officials are key stakeholders in the implementation of the GST which is slated to be rolled out from July 1.
