It's a rather curious case. Service records of senior IT officers are missing from the CR Building at ITO which houses records of most of the senior-level officers of Income Tax Department of Delhi Region. A particular section of the building where service records of gazetted rank officials were kept caught fire some time ago and this is said to have burnt out all records. Being without service records, senior tax officials are a worried lot as this may cause a lot of problems with promotions, etc. Authorities are also investigating if the fire that destroyed all records was accidental or part of a conspiracy of officials with vested interests.
