As many senior civil servants in Govt of
India had been apprehending the second meeting of PM led panel (comprising CJI
& Leader Opposition) on CBI chief's selection remained inconclusive on
Friday. The panel had earlier met on 24 January which could not decide on the
CBI chief. At that meeting, Kharge was believed to have sought details of the
seniority and experience of around 80 IPS officers from four eligible batches
which reached nowhere. The top post in CBI post has been lying
vacant since January 10 following the the unceremonious exit of Alok Verma. M Nageswara
Rao (IPS:1986:OR) has been working as the interim CBI chief since Verma's
ouster. Reportedly, the High-power selection
committee discussed five senior IPS officers but again reached nowhere. Is it
that the aforementioned apprehensions turned true?
