Supreme Court on Monday rejected the plea of Admiral (retd) Ram Das challenging the appointment of vigilance commissioner Sharad Kumar. Kumar, a 1979 batch IPS officer, was appointed to the post on 10 June 2018.  A three-judge bench comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Navin Kumar and Justice K M Joseph told Prashant Bhushan that only affected person should approach this court. Ram Das is not affected by this appointment. So others who are affected can approach this court. Sharad Kumar retired as NIA chief last year and now has been appointed vigilance commissioner.
