The HRD ministry is working out a comprehensive plan to implant the Sainik School model in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), following a suggestion in this regard from the PMO. Earlier in the week, HRD officials are said to have discussed the idea with PMO officials, and then taken up the matter with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), to which about 20,000 private schools across the country are affiliated.
May it be recalled that this idea was first discussed at the 64th meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) held in October last year. CABE is the highest advisory body that guides the central government and states on matters pertaining to education.
