New Delhi (18.04.2026): The Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) constituted by the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Economic Affairs (Currency & Coinage Division) recommended the name of Shashidhar Nimbakkanavar as Director (Technical) at the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL).
The SCSC conducted interviews on April 3, 2026, through video conferencing for the leadership position in the Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise. Nimbakkanavar is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Mechanical) at NMDC Ltd., for the post.
The SCSC interviewed senior professionals from organisations including ordnance factories, the Reserve Bank of India, Indian Railways, National Small Industries Corporation, Hindustan Copper Limited, and academia. The process was aimed at identifying a candidate with strong technical leadership and strategic capability to strengthen SPMCIL’s operations.
Among the prominent candidates were senior executives from the defence production ecosystem, financial institutions, and public sector undertakings, highlighting the competitive and high-level nature of the selection process.
The Director (Technical) position is critical for SPMCIL, which is responsible for the production of currency notes, coins, passports, postage stamps, and other high-security documents. The role carries responsibility for modernising manufacturing systems, ensuring technological advancement, and maintaining the highest standards of security and operational efficiency.
The committee’s recommendation has been formally recorded and forwarded for further approvals as per the established appointment process. The selection marks a key leadership development for SPMCIL as it continues to enhance India’s security printing and minting capabilities in line with evolving technological and national requirements.
