A change in the nomenclature of Railway Board members is on the cards. As part of the restructuring exercise of the Board on functional lines, the Member-Mechanical will be called Member-Rolling Stock; Member-Electrical as Member-Traction; Member-Staff as Member-HR and Stores; Financial Commissioner as Member-Finance; and Member-Traffic as Member-Passenger and Freight Business. While the change means little as of now, it is being said that this would be a precursor to actually dividing the roles and responsibilities into functional lines.
