Unsurprisingly the Govt of India promoted Rajeev Topno (IAS: 1996: GJ) to the rank of Joint Secretary. Recently he had got empanelled to be posted as Jt Secretary, GoI.
In the third week of June this year Topno was picked up by new Prime Minister of India as his Private Secretary; a position previously held by Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi in Dr Manmohan Singh's PMO. During the UPA regime Topno handled the strategically important portfolios like telecom and ports in the capacity of Director, PMO. He is known for maintaining an all-time-low-profile figure for himself.
