4554New Delhi (11.03.2022): An inordinate delay seen in the posting of dozens of new Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) & General Managers (GMs) of zonal railways could have derailed the timeline for implementing a unified cadre of Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS). However, the government is seen removing the bottlenecks in the selection process and the appointments may follow soon. The previous panels for GMs & DRMs were struck down following which the Railways Ministry rolled out a new selection process to fill the above posts. Reportedly, the senior-most officer of each cadre was evaluated on EQ as well as IQ parameters by means of a set of over a hundred questions via online tests and webinars. And this process may throw up a list of candidates who could be accommodated as DRMs and GMs.
