Punjab DGP applies for long leave; ad-hoc arrangement soon

Chandigarh (02.07.2022): Punjab DGP VK Bhawra (IPS: 1987: PB) has applied for two months' leave paving the way for the Bhagwant Man government to appoint an acting DGP. Earlier, Bhawra also sought a central deputation. In the absence of VK Bhawra, Punjab will have an acting DGP soon. 
Prabodh Kumar (IPS: 1988: PB) is senior-most among IPS officers but Harpreet Singh Sidhu (IPS: 1992: PB), Gaurav Yadav (IPS: 1992: PB), and Sharad Satya Chauhan (IPS: 1992: PB) are considered to be the front runners for the position of acting Punjab DGP. The Punjab government has accepted the request of Bhawra for central deputation and forwarded it to the Centre.
