The post had fallen vacant on November 30, the day Dilip Trivedi superannuated as DG, CRPF. Prakash Mishra has cleared the deck for prospective officers to be offered with Special secretary (Internal Security) with Union Home Ministry. The PM led collegium had considered Mishra's name also for CBI Director in the last week of November.
