New Delhi (07.10.2024): Noted economist and member of Prime
Minister's Economic Advisory Council Sanjeev Sanyal has been appointed as
Chancellor of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), a Pune-based
Institute. Dr Bibek Debroy resigned from his position on September 27, 2024. Debroy sent his
resignation to the trustees of The Servants of India Society (SIS). In his
letter reportedly, he expressed a desire to distance himself from the ongoing
controversy regarding the termination of Dr Ajit Ranade, the institute’s former
vice-chancellor, whose case is currently being reviewed by the Bombay High
Court.
