1087New Delhi (01.01.2023): The Government has deepened the reach of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) with more than 9000 stores covering 743 out of 766 districts across the country. The objective is to make quality generic medicines available at affordable prices. The PMBJP was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers in November 2008. With a target of opening 3000 Kendras achieved in December 2017, now the Government has set a target to increase the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) to 10,000 by March 2024. Medicines available here are 50 per cent to 90 percent less than that of branded Medicines. Approximately Rs 18,000 Crore have been saved through this Pariyojana in the last 8 years. Jan Aushadhi Suvidha Sanitary Napkins are sold at Re 1/- per pad through these 9000 PMBJKs across the country.
