Prime Minister Narendra Modi has likened Yoga with salt. Addressing a Yoga Day rally at Ramabai ground in Lucknow in the presence of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, he said: "Just as the importance of salt is not only to lend taste to food, but also ensure the well-being of the body, similarly Yoga can have the same importance as salt has in life".
The PM said Yoga is no longer only a form of exercise to connect body, mind, and soul but is also playing a big role in connecting the world, too. " Young people have accepted Yoga as a profession. In countries across the world, there is a new market being created around Yoga".
He pointed out that a number of countries which earlier did not know our language, tradition, or culture, was now connecting to India through Yoga. He added that Yoga was playing a big role in binding the world. " Earlier, Yoga was practiced by saints and seers in the Himalayan mountains. Now, it has become part of every person's life."
Earlier, in the 32nd edition of his radio program Mann Ki Baat, Modi had urged people to share pictures of three generations of the family doing yoga together on the third International Yoga Day on June 21, 2017. Like his previous campaign 'Selfie with Daughter', he requested people to post pictures of three generations doing yoga on social media.
This message from the Prime Minister succeeded in striking a chord. Twitter has been flooded with several people sharing pictures of themselves along with their family doing yoga. They have even tagged Modi while sharing the images.
