Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Capt A S Soman (ED, Air India) has filed a writ petition in HC against selection to Director (Operations), Air India held on May 25, 2016. Reportedly, Capt Soman has questioned the ground on which PESB did not short-list his name for selection interview even though he was the senior most among applicants. Five candidates were short-listed for interview including four internal candidates (03 EDs & 01 GM) and an external candidate Air Vice Marshal Amit Tiwari (MoD). PESB had selected Arvind Kathpalia (ED- Operations, Air India) for the newly created post but the petitioner raised objections over the same. If some well-placed sources are to be believed his name was not shortlisted because he made an error in filling his pay scale in application form. His case was listed in the High Court for hearing on June 10 but somehow the item number was not taken up for hearing.
