Even as hundreds of board-level posts remain vacant,  there will be more scheduled vacancies in coming months, adding to the task of PESB which appears desperate to fill the top posts (MD & CMD) first. Immediately after DOPT, on 22 February 2017, issued the criteria for the selection of candidates from State PSEs and private sector for board level positions in CPSEs, PESB acted swiftly to invite applications for as many as 16 posts of MDs & CMDs. The latest among them is ONGC CMD post for which the last date for submission of application is 11 May 2017. Out of these sixteen posts, eight are lying vacant whereas six are set to fall vacant between July & September 2017. The posts advertised on February 27 are of CMDs for IRCTC, CMD for NHPC and MD for Bharat Petro Resource Ltd (BPRL). On 28 February three posts were advertised for CMD, Karmajar Port Ltd; CMD Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (RCFL) and CMD, Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL). Further on 01 March 2017 the public sector headhunter advertised CMD posts for Andrew Yule & Co Ltd (AYCL), Bridge & Roof (B&R), Bharat Cocking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) whereas it advertised MD posts for NSKFDC and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). On 02 March 2017, two more CMD posts were advertised for FAGMIL and Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL). And on 03 March the CMD post of oil sector Maharatna ONGC was advertised. Also advertised was the CMD post of Braithwaite Burn & Jessop Construction Co Ltd (BBJ).
