The public-sector headhunter on Friday failed twice to select a suitable candidate for the post of Director (Finance) in BSNL. The critically important post has been lying vacant for more than two years. Director (HR) Ms S T Ray, a 1982 batch officer of IP&TA&FS cadre, has been holding the additional charge of Director (Finance) for over two years. In spite of the fact that six candidates appeared for the selection interview it found none of them suitable and said 'the Board considered it fit that the administrative ministry/department may choose an appropriate course of further action for selection'. Earlier (31 August 2017) also the selection board interviewed four candidates and announced, 'the Board did not find any candidate suitable'. If some reliable sources are to be believed Ms Yojana Das (then GM, BSNL) was selected for the post in December 2014 but her selection couldn't reach to a logical conclusion. It may be mentioned that that the BSNL board comprises of 12 directors, of which five (including the CMD) are full-time directors and two government-nominee directors. Of five full-time directors two posts are currently vacant.
