Serving well and retiring well is something which every civil servant aspires for. But former Delhi Police chief was not so fortunate. In the very context  statements of former top cops on Patnaik’s tenure as Delhi Police Commissioner are still being taken curiously among who’s who in the power corridors. Communal riots in Delhi during US President Donald Trump’s maiden visit continued to capture maximum media attention including by news channels till Corona outbreak hijacked the mind-space of the country.

Former Uttar Pradesh DGP Vikram Singh (IPS:1974) said, “Delhi Police acted like a rainbow”. Former J&K DGP B S Bedi referred to the old proverb ‘A stitch in time saves nine’. He further added that “In any given law and order situation, the boss is the Commissioner’.

Though NSA Ajit Doval’s peace-march on the streets of Delhi and the change of guard in Delhi police made a difference but Patnaik’s tenure certainly
