Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that, on June 26 and June 29, more than nine candidates were interviewed for the post of Secretary, Department of Law. The post has been lying vacant since November 2018 following the retirement of Suresh Chandra (ILS). Though Alok Srivastava (IAS:1984:MP), Secretary, Department of Justice, has been holding the additional charge since December 2018 to become the first IAS officer to find a place on the incumbency chart of Union Law Secretary. It is said approx. 92 applications were received of which only nine were shortlisted. Further, it is learned that from among the nine short-listed candidates Ranjan Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Law, is ahead in the race for the top job.
