is something worth underlining. State owned building construction giant NBCC
(India) Ltd, on August 27, issued a revised General Conditions of Contract
(GCC), making it mandatory for its contractors to plant at least five-feet-high
trees of different varieties and maintain them in proportion to project value. In
case of scarcity of land at the project site contractors will plant trees in
any specified area within a 20-km radius of the project site. As
per the new the clause NBCC contractors will now have to plant 500 trees for a
project having an estimated cost of up to Rs 100 crs. For projects valued
between Rs 100 crore and Rs 300 crore, the contractors will be planting 500
