Though MP CM Kamal Nath is showing a brave face by claiming to have a majority in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly despite the fact that 22 of Congress MLAs have sent their resignation to Speaker. The BJP on the other hand is working on its plan that who will be the next chief minister of the state and surprisingly the name of Dr Narottam Mishra is leading in the list and obviously the name of Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be in the reckoning till the new name is not announced.

High placed sources said that the BJP is looking for a change in the leadership in Madhya Pradesh and a few legislators expressed their view in open without taking any new name. Mishra is very close to Union HM Amit Shah and a big section of MLAs are also in support of him. However, it would be really difficult for the party to ignore him because in that case, he will have to be inducted in the Union cabinet. There are already two cabinet ministers – Narendra Singh Tomar and Thawar Chandra Gehlot – in the Modi government, inducting Jyotiraditya Scindhia and Chouhan will be imprudent.

The name of Baghel is also in the reckoning for the CM’s post but three BJP chief minister from the same community may irk Brahmin community that the BJP might not like to happen. So either Mishra or Chouhan will be given the top job with Mishra having better equipped to manage 22 MLAs who have resigned and once the stalemate is over, they will certainly join the BJP. They are Scindia loyalists.
