New Delhi (08.01.2024): The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared the appointment of Dr V Narayanan, Director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, Valiamala, as Secretary, Department of Space, Chairman, Space Commission and Chairman, ISRO for a period of two years with effect from 14.01.2025. He will replace Dr S Somanath who is serving since January 14, 2022. V Narayanan is a noted rocket and spacecraft propulsion expert. He is set to take over the responsibility when India’s space sector is in reform-mode and the national space agency has major projects lined up including the Gaganyaan human spaceflight, the Chandrayaan-4 mission and the development of the country’s own space station.
